01 / COMPATIBILITY

More than an extension

A format contains encoded video and sound. Compatibility mode creates H.264 / AAC for MP4, MOV and MKV, or VP8 / Opus for WebM.

02 / QUALITY

Skip an unnecessary encode

Fast repackage copies compatible video and audio tracks. It changes the container without improving or degrading the encoded picture. Unsupported combinations get a clear explanation.

03 / PRIVACY

Convert on your device

Your original files stay unchanged and are not uploaded. Descriptive source tags, extra tracks, subtitles, attachments and chapters are omitted.

Formats, repackaging and browser limits

MP4 and MOV use H.264 video with AAC audio for compatibility. WebM uses VP8 video with Opus audio. MKV is useful in desktop players but may not preview in your browser. A preview failure does not necessarily mean a conversion failed; you can download the checked export.

Fast repackage accepts H.264 / AAC for MP4 or MOV; VP8/VP9 with Opus/Vorbis for WebM; and a wider set of supported codecs for MKV. It copies the first video and first audio track without resizing or changing frame rate. Videos with rotation tags must be re-encoded for WebM or MKV to preserve orientation. HDR conversion is not yet supported.

The engine reads many common video files, but not every codec, encrypted recording or corrupt file. WebAssembly and module workers are required; the shared engine downloads about 31 MiB on first use. Long videos can exceed browser memory even below the 512 MiB limit. Keep this page open. Re-encoding can take time and does not guarantee a smaller file.
