Patterns: {name}, {n}, {ext}, {date} (modified date in UTC), {folder}. Regular expressions use JavaScript syntax; slow expressions are stopped during preview. Example: photo-{n} keeps the source extension. Collisions stop the operation. Renamed copies are downloaded in a ZIP; the original files stay unchanged. Up to 200 MiB total.

How to use Batch File Renamer

  1. Choose your source files. Folder pickers preserve nested file paths where supported.
  2. Review the selection and available settings. Archive directories and rename previews can be inspected before processing.
  3. Select Download renamed copies, review the result, then download the files or report.

Privacy and practical limits

File contents are processed by local browser workers. The website checks your normal tool-credit allowance; files are not sent with those requests. Cancelling an unfinished task stops its worker. Keep the original files for comparison.

Reports display 100 rows per page and support filtering. Downloads contain the full result. Folder pickers do not expose empty directories. This tool handles the formats described above; it does not claim support for every archive or file format.
