A few things you might wonder.
Is this profile picture maker completely free?
Yes. All 60 templates, background removal, editing controls, and downloads are free. There is no sign-up, watermark, credit system or per-picture limit. Your device’s memory and speed determine what it can handle.
Does my photo leave my device?
No. Photos, cutouts, and exports stay in this browser tab. Background removal runs locally. The model and app files download from this website; your photo is not sent with them. Only favorite template IDs are saved on this device.
Will this generate a new face, outfit or AI headshot?
No. It uses your real photo and changes the background, crop, colors and finishing touches. The background-removal model separates a person from the photo; it does not invent a face or new clothes.
Why does background removal download engine files?
The first time you use it, your browser needs about 40 MB of model and engine files before compression. They run on your device and can be cached for later visits. No API key or powerful server is needed.
What if some hair or part of my photo is missing?
Open Photo → Fix edges. Brush with Restore to bring back a missing area, or Erase to remove unwanted background. Undo restores your previous brush stroke. Detailed hair, glass, distant people and low contrast can be difficult for automatic cutouts.
Which size and shape should I download?
A 1024 px square file is a useful starting point. Circle and rounded shapes keep transparent corners in PNG or WebP. JPG uses white corners. Most social platforms crop avatars to a circle, so check the Safe area preview and keep your face away from the edge.
Can I use my own background or keep the original?
Yes. In Background choose your own photo, a blurred original, or a transparent background. In Photo turn off “Use removed background” to keep the original image. Colors and templates remain editable.
Does it work on phones?
The editor supports touch dragging and responsive controls. Background removal needs a modern browser with WebAssembly and may take longer on older devices. You can cancel it and still use the original photo with framing, borders and other edits.
