What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It stores great quality in small files — but many Windows apps, websites and older devices can't open it, which is why converting to JPG helps.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser with an open-source decoder. Your photos never leave your device.
Will some HEIC files fail to convert?
Honestly: a few rare HEIC variants (10-bit HDR shots, some burst sequences, files from very old encoders) may not decode in a browser. If one fails, the tool tells you which file and keeps going with the rest.
Does converting lose quality?
HEIC→JPG is a re-encode, so a tiny amount of quality is lost — the "High (92%)" setting keeps it visually identical for normal viewing. Your originals are never touched.
How many files can I convert at once?
Up to 10 per batch. HEIC decoding is CPU-heavy, so large batches take a little longer — the status next to each file shows its progress.
