A few useful answers
Is this different from resizing?
AI Enhance uses Real-ESRGAN to predict higher-resolution edges and textures. Standard uses Lanczos resampling in linear light, with optional sharpening. Both enlarge pixels; AI additionally predicts detail, which may differ from the original scene.
Is it really free? Do I need an API key?
Both modes are free and use your own device. There are no credits, API keys or per-image fees. Processing speed and supported image sizes depend on your browser and hardware.
Why does AI take longer the first time?
Your browser downloads the AI engine and chosen model. The Balanced model is about 4.9 MB; Photo detail is about 67 MB, plus the engine. Files can be cached for future use. Only the model you choose is loaded.
Can it fix every blurry photo?
No. AI can improve some edges, textures and compression damage, but cannot guarantee recovery of missing information. Tiny text and faces may change. Keep your original and inspect your result.
What if my image is too large?
We check the output size and available processing path before starting. You can explicitly choose a device-safe working size, select a smaller output, or use Standard. We never silently switch AI processing to standard resizing.
