Frequently asked questions
Why measure pixels instead of characters?
Google truncates titles and descriptions by rendered pixel width, not character count. A title full of wide letters like "W" gets cut much sooner than one with narrow letters like "i". This tool measures the real pixel width with a canvas, the same way Google renders it.
What are the actual limits?
Approximately 600px for desktop titles (~50–60 characters), 920px for desktop descriptions (~150–160 characters). Mobile is tighter: about 496px for titles and 680px for descriptions. These are industry-standard heuristics — Google doesn't publish exact numbers.
Will Google show exactly what I write?
Not always. Google treats your title and description as strong suggestions but sometimes rewrites the snippet to match the searcher's query. A clear, relevant, well-sized snippet is still your best defense against rewrites.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly, but it strongly affects click-through rate. A compelling snippet can win clicks from pages ranking above you.
Is my input uploaded anywhere?
No. The preview renders entirely in your browser. Nothing you type ever leaves your device.
