Frequently asked questions
Does it work on numbers inside sentences?
Yes — that's the main use case. Paste a whole paragraph and only the numbers get formatted; the rest of your text stays exactly as it was. "Revenue was 4500000 last year" becomes "Revenue was 4,500,000 last year".
What happens to decimals like 9500.75?
They're handled correctly: separators only go in the integer part, so 9500.75 becomes 9,500.75. The decimal portion is never touched.
What does "remove existing separators first" do?
If your numbers already have separators (like 1,000 or 1 000), this strips them before re-formatting so you never end up with doubled separators. Turn it off if your text uses commas or spaces in ways you want to keep.
Which separator style should I choose?
Comma (1,000,000) is standard in English. Space (1 000 000) is common in French and scientific writing; dot (1.000.000) in German and Italian; apostrophe (1'000'000) in Swiss formatting.
Is there a limit to how much I can paste?
The amount of input this tool can handle depends on available browser memory and the limits shown by the controls. Larger jobs can take longer or fail; try a smaller input if the page becomes slow.
