Frequently asked questions

How does regex mode work?

Turn on regex mode and your "find" text is treated as a regular expression — for example \d+ matches any number. You can even use capture groups like (\w+)@(\w+) and reference them in the replacement with $1, $2. Invalid patterns show a friendly error instead of breaking.

What does whole-word matching do?

It only matches your find text when it stands alone as a word. Finding "cat" won't touch "catalog" or "concatenate" — only "cat" itself.

Can I undo a replacement?

Yes. Every Replace all is saved to a history, and the Undo button steps back through your changes one at a time.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser with JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device.

Is there a text length limit?

The amount of input this tool can handle depends on available browser memory and the limits shown by the controls. Larger jobs can take longer or fail; try a smaller input if the page becomes slow.
